Savvy Feaster is a free grocery planning app available at app.savvyfeaster.com. It connects three things that other apps handle separately:
- Your pantry — Track what you have at home with barcode scanning and manual entry
- Your recipes — Import recipes from any URL and see which ingredients you already have
- Your local store flyers — Weekly deals from stores near you, matched to your shopping list
The meal planner ties it all together — suggesting recipes based on what you have, what's on sale, and what's about to expire.
Yes, Savvy Feaster is free to use. All features — pantry tracking, meal planning, shopping lists, recipe import, and store flyer matching — are included at no cost. No credit card required.
Store availability depends on your location. When you enter your zip code, the app finds stores near you that publish weekly flyers. This includes national chains, regional grocery stores, and discount stores.
Sale prices come from weekly store flyers (not real-time pricing). Flyers are updated weekly as stores publish new deals.

Savvy Feaster matches items on your shopping list to deals in your local store flyers using fuzzy matching. Here's how it works:
- You add items to your shopping list (manually or from a meal plan)
- The app checks weekly flyers from stores near you
- Matching deals are shown on your list with the sale price and store name
- You choose "Best Prices" mode (cheapest store per item) or "1 Store" mode (best single store)
Important: Prices come from weekly flyers, not real-time store data. Availability may vary in-store.
The pantry (Dashboard) lets you track what's in your kitchen:
- Add items by typing a name or scanning a barcode with your phone camera
- Automatic categorization sorts items into groups (Produce, Dairy, Meat, etc.)
- Quantity tracking so you know how much you have
- Expiration dates with USDA FoodKeeper storage time suggestions
- "Running Low" alerts show items you might need to restock
- Bulk management to select, delete, or move multiple items at once
The meal planner is a weekly calendar with slots for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. It suggests recipes based on:
- What's in your pantry — recipes where you already have most ingredients score higher
- What's on sale — recipes with ingredients on sale at your local stores get a boost
- What's about to expire — recipes that use expiring pantry items get a 40% scoring priority
Once you've planned your meals, the app auto-generates a shopping list with only the ingredients you're missing.
Visit app.savvyfeaster.com/register.php and create a free account. You'll need an email address and password. That's it — you can start using the app immediately.
The app works on any device with a web browser (phone, tablet, or computer). For barcode scanning, use your phone's camera.

Yes. Paste any recipe URL and Savvy Feaster extracts the ingredients, instructions, and metadata automatically. Imported recipes show how many ingredients you already have in your pantry (e.g., "6 of 8 ingredients in pantry").
